2022 Shotteswell Fete returns after an absence of two years

Yay, now the Covid restrictions are over it is full steam ahead with an action-packed fete. So join us at Shotteswell Children’s Playing Field from 1pm until 5pm. Get there promptly to see the Spitfire Fly past at 1pm (weather permitting). The usual attractions will include, homemade cakes, Bric-a-Brac, Scarves and Accessories, Bookstall, Tombola, Cards & Crafts, Tombola, Dance Accessories, Games and even local produced Apple juice.  There will be ice creams, teas, BBQ and a beer tent for you to sample. Try your hand at skittles, welly wanging and the good old coconut shy. Wander through and watch the Children’s Entertainer, dancing troupe, experience the sheep being shorn ready for the summer months and find out about the local honey production with Shotteswell’s own beekeepers. And if that isn’t enough to entice you in then we have ferret racing, family fun races, pony rides and a helicopter display along with vintage tractors, military vehicles and Harley Davidson motorcycles for your to mooch around whilst listening to the Spa Strummers. This year’s raffle has some stunning prizes, a years entry for a family to the historic Blenheim Palace, for the daring a Harley Davidson Ride, a Helicopter ride and even a two night stay in a Yorkshire Cottage to tempt you.TE31175-H

A typical countryside themed fete, with demonstrations, refreshments, games, competitions, and stalls.  Bee Keeping, pony rides, reptile display, Sheep Shearing and more!  Weather permitting there will be an RAF Flypast featuring a Lancaster Bomber, not to be missed and will be at 1pm.  Evening Social the bar will remain open until 11pm

The event becomes more popular every  year, therefore, early booking is recommend .

How it works!

Each guest pays £17.50 per head and couples take with them a bottle of wine to their first host. This is a  fantastic way of catching up with old friends and the opportunity of making new ones.   Feedback has always been positive and a thoroughly enjoyable evening  with good food, good company and raising some much-needed funds for the church restoration in the process

The evening begins with a  drink in the Village Hall,  where everyone can mingle and then each guest is  provided with the address of their first host, at the end of each course, the host will read out where their guests will progress for their next course. At the end of the three courses, all guests return to the hall with their hosts for coffee and mints to once again meet faces that you see regularly but never get the chance to speak to.

Shotteswell Harvest Festival Service and Lunch

The Harvest service will take place at 10.30am at St Laurence Church on Sunday, 27th September. Children will be invited to take their harvest gifts to the altar during the service if they wish.

The lunch will begin at 12.30pm for a 1pm start. Tickets are priced at £8 for adults, £4 for children up to the age of 11 and under 5’s are free. Please bring your own drinks to the event. The meal will be Pork Sausage Casserole, Jacket Potatoes, peas and carrots and a variety of homemade puddings. The decorations from the Church and harvest produce will be  auctioned  following  the meal and there will also be the customary raffle. Donations of raffle prizes gratefully received

Art Exhibition, National Herb Centre

6th – 7th July by Shotteswell Art Group

The art group are looking for new blood to join their 2 Art classes every Monday afternoon 2-4 and Monday evening 7 -9 Tea and coffee provided , also all materials for the first lesson so no-one needs to go out and buy ! just £ 5 per lesson and you only pay when you come -none of this payment in advance stuff !  Suitable for all ages and abilities, come and learn how to draw or hone up your skills and socialise .
