♥️ Planting of Councillor Jan Burgess’ Tree

Location: Middle Lane, next to the Coronation Tree

Following the very sad passing of our former Councillor, Jan Burgess, earlier this year, the Parish Council has been planning to plant a tree in her memory. Due to the hot and dry weather over the summer, we delayed the planting until the more suitable conditions of late autumn. Working closely with Jan’s family, a tree has now been chosen and we hope to plant it this coming Saturday, 29th November at 9am. We warmly welcome anyone who would like to join us for the planting ceremony. Please gather on the Village Green. Our thoughts are with Andy and the family and we hope this tree will stand as a lasting tribute to our former colleague, a much respected member of our community and a dear friend to so many.

Some words from Chairman Les Faulkner

On behalf of the Parish Council, I would just like to say a few words. Thank you all for coming here today to see Jan’s tree planted. It means a great deal to gather together in her honour and to mark her memory with something living, rooted and lasting. Jan was not only a much respected and deeply valued member of the council, but also a true friend to so many of us. Her presence brought steadiness, warmth and a sense of shared purpose to every room she entered. You could always rely on Jan for sage wisdom, unwavering support and quiet loyalty. She had a gift for listening carefully, offering thoughtful guidance and helping others find clarity in the moments that mattered. Her contribution to our community went far beyond her role, she was part of the heart of village life. She will always be missed, but she will also always be remembered. And as this tree grows, it will stand as a symbol of her strength, kindness and the enduring impact she had on us all.
